Well, Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself, and let me make you aware, I am not your regular cyclist, or super bike aficionado; well, don't get me wrong, I absolutely love cycling, and would do it all the time if I could, but I guess it's only because of my background and knowledge that I have decided to do this blog.
You'd see, I have a pretty unique background as many of you may say. For starters, I'm a girl. A girl in a male dominated industry by far; and then, my background is in beauty and cosmetics. I can almost hear you now, saying WTH!!!, Why should I read this blog!? Well, I do bring you a unique approach to bicycle care and maintenance, because, after all, I ADORE my bike, and I want it to last, for as long as possible in the best condition possible, not only cosmetically, but functionally.
As a long time marketing manager and product development manager in a beauty product manufacturing lab, I was in charge of creating new products for my clients. These products would vary depending on what type of performance or benefit they would need from said products; such as skin care, protection, color protection, etc. This process was very exciting, I was able to create these new products. I can not pretend to be a chemist, but this position gave me a good understanding as to how ingredients chemically react with one another as well as the importance of using quality ingredients in a formula, and the side effects of some other.
I apologize, its not my intention to bore you with a chemistry lesson, but I needed to state this fact so you know where I'm coming from.
You'd see we, my husband and myself love cycling, and our bikes, and maybe just like any couple, I would have my husband do the maintenance on our bikes (lazy). One day after riding, my husband proceeded to wash our bikes and I saw the products he was using. ( Your regular bike wash, polishes and lubes, he used them because they said they were carbon fiber safe. But after reading some more, I realized these products didn't provided any particular benefit to carbon fiber, and most of them contained salts and solvents in their formulations, which made them actually harmful to the frames and paint finishes of our bikes. Something had to be changed, something had to be done.
It was then that I had an AHA! moment. I realized all at once, that there was:
1) No common knowledge whatsoever about whats good or bad for bicycle care//other than it works!
2) "I" could do something better, To not only clean, and lube, but to protect and prolong the life of bicycles as well as their value, for myself and people like myself who love their bikes.
Damage from
-Environmental factors such as UV rays, Water and Salt Corrosion, Acid rain
-Wear and Tear like sweat, sports drinks and supplements (that drip on the frame) and also surface scratches from the road debris, not to mention the scratches from the racks, and minor falls.
This is how after 3+ years of research, blood sweat and tears, CarbonPro Sports was born. A Unique and complete line to clean, lube, but also protect bikes and maintain their values high... yeah yeah yeah...we love our bike forever, but, at the end of the day, we always want a better, faster, newer bike, so the value of our old one its very important.
We can now keep our bikes looking longer like new with CarbonPro. The only product line that will protect the bike frame, paint and components from UV rays, corrosion and scratches.
Please keep connected with our blog, as we will continue to explain the Whys and Hows of bicycle care and maintenance. Please feel free to leave your comments and suggestions.
